The bank where I commenced my career as a retail banker and left 21 years later as a techno-banker is one entity I love and adore. I understand a recent circular issued to the employees of the bank says from now-on T-shirts and jeans are strict no-no for the employees.
சிவகங்கையில் வங்கிப்பணியில் இருந்தபோது அடிக்கடி சுற்றுவட்டாரத்தில் நாட்டரசன்கோட்டை, பள்ளத்தூர், தேவகோட்டை என்று போக வேண்டி இருக்கும். நகரத்தார் வாடிக்கையாளர்கள் (எனவே நண்பர்கள்) நிறைய இருக்கும் செட்டிநாட்டு ஊர்கள். திருமண நிகழ்ச்சிகளில் அவர்கள் போல் அகமும் முகமும் மலர அன்போடு வரவேற்று உணவு கொடுத்து உபசரிப்பதை வேறு எங்குமே நான் கண்டதில்லை.
நான் வேலையில் சேர்ந்த முதல் சில மாதங்கள் பேண்ட் ஷர்ட்டோடு தான் இந்த மாதிரி நிகழ்ச்சிகளுக்குப் போவேன். வரவேற்பு சிறப்பாக இருந்தாலும் எல்லோரும் விலகியே இருப்பதாகப் புரியும். எட்டு முழ வேட்டிக்கு மாறினேன். ‘இப்பத்தான் நம்மாளு’. நட்பும் வரவேற்பும் கூடியதை உணர்ந்தேன்.Dress code is an interesting concept. I was celebrating a dhothi-year while posted to Sivaganga, my native place in the late 70s (the most pleasant period of my IOB years). Like Kameswaran in Michael – Madan – Kamarajan, I used to drive around in my Lambretta clad in a dhothi. Even the folding and tucking up of dhothi was precisely like what KH does in the movie! And T-shirts were always in – never frowned at, in the computer department of the bank where I spent the maximum period of my bank years.
I am certain no one would be keen to come to the office wearing shorts and sleeve less T-shirts..
At the end of the day, it is the customer service provided which matters,,,

எங்கள் தொகுதி (சிவகங்கை) எம்.பி மேல் எல்லோருக்கும் ஏதாவது குறை இருக்கும் – சிவகங்கையை அவர் கவனிக்கவே இல்லை என்பதே முக்கியமான குறைபாடு. ஆனாலும் மத்திய அரசில் நிதியமைச்சராகச் செயல்படும் அவர் எப்போதும் வேட்டி உடுத்தித்தான் வலம் வருகிறார் என்பதில் சிவகங்கையார்களுக்கு ஏகப் பெருமை. தமிழக முதலமைச்சர் கூட ப.சி அவர்களை ஒரு முறை இதற்காகப் பாராட்டியதாக நினைவு
