ஒதுக்கிக் கொண்டே போனால்
யுகப் புரட்சி வந்தாலும்
நம் இலக்கியத் தடங்களில்
நிம்மதியாகத்
தொடர்ந்து கொண்டிருப்போம்

Like the eminently readable William Dalrymple, Prof.Harris seems to be an interesting micro-history narrator. Awaiting his book release.
My choice of micro-history works:
1) Samuel Pepy’s diary (about 17th century England, especially London during the plague and the London fire 1666)
2) the whole Anandarangam Pillai diaries (about French rule in Pondichery – 18th century) – though the ruling elite appear throughout the diaries, Pillai has avoided them hogging space and introduces hundreds of ‘the others’ too
3) )Thamizh Thathta U.Ve.Saa’s ‘En charithiram’ (19th century Tamilnadu)
4) Dalrymple’s ‘White Mughals’ and ‘Last Mughal’
