Olivia Colman succeeds Claire Foy as Queen Elizabeth II in season three of Netflix’s royal biopic. Following Foy’s Emmy best actress win for her role in the Netflix drama, expectations are high for Oscar winner Colman’s performance.

the drama is about to move into a new era both with a rebooted cast and with time moving forward in this epic story of the most famous family on the planet.

1) I’m rolling back my initial opinion about Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II after watching The Crown Season 3 Episode 3 about the Welsh coal mining tragedy. She is cut for the role of Queen Elizabeth II, no doubt.

2) Jane Lapotaire as Princess Alice, mother of Prince Philip in season 3 episode 4 is another scene stealer

3) Jason Watkins as the Labour Party elected Prime Minister Harold Wilson is another actor to watch. As the narrative progresses, the PM gains in self confidence in his interaction with the Queen. Wilson at their first official meet looks rather sheepish as he starts sitting cross-legged. Becoming self conscious, he immediately assumes the sitting pose of an obedient student in front of the school master. From the next episode onwards he does sit cross legged during the royal briefings and converses easy. The episode in which he regales the Queen with the bawdy limmericks her sister Princess Margaret shared with President Nixon during a Presidential dinner at NY is worthy of mention in this regard . (Did that really happen?!)

4) It appears the British serials are miles ahead of what we are dished out here in India. Not only sharp dialogues but a few seconds of meaningful silence every now and then when the camera lingers on a character or the scenary gives the narrative added nuances.
