When the bell was tolling for Sudaendra Nadane
It ensured it was for my pal with the French name
who slept in the Lord in his enclosure
somewhere in the Riviera west of Marseilles
and I was wading through the fresh
Scottish snow on the cobbled pavements of
a sleepy Edinburgh a February morning.
The bell again tolled last evening
for Antoine Joseph keen to be called
as ‘Anthwan’ and nothing less or more
in our Pondichery haunt they made us
graduates sipping tea and marxism.
Antoine slept in Jesus
in Naples if reports are to be believed;
I remember his email long back
inviting me to
‘See Naples and die’.
Should search for it
while saying
‘Qu’il repose en paix. mon ami’
– Rest in Peace, my friend.

Appears Times of India is of late affected by ‘I first’ syndrome – Times of India is the first to report Mr.XXX, close relation of Mr.YYY will be questioned….TOI is the first to report about the girlfriend / colleague of a IT company CEO ‘being pregnant in its late editions on Thursday’.
Now, don’t ask me how someone can be pregnant in the late editions on Thursday!

Indian corporate world is crazy. You become the USA operations in charge of the number 1 Software Exporter and sexually harass a subordinate employee. They sack you with a fat ‘termination benefit’ of a few million dollars and pack you back to India in Executive Class.
In India you co-start another software venture and become its CEO, again be at your game – sexually harass a employee here. The Board sacks you but notes with appreciation your relentless work to enhance the company’s business in USA and award you a monthly dole of $6000 per month (inflation corrected) till you and your wife reach 65!
This is the first, no, second time I am finding someone s**** at work and getting a citation and a cash prize!
The internal investigation team constituted by the company has observed, ‘it is his choice to indulge in an extra-marital relationship but as per the company policy, he should have declared it to the company’.
Pray, where? In the annual Balance Sheet?
Appears to be a good idea… declare this as a contingent liability (it indeed is!) providing a monetary value (inflation corrected and operational risk weighted). Or, still better, make it as a foot note to the balance sheet.
That will make the balance sheets of corporates a special genre of widely read printed matter!

ஒரு மனிதன், ஒரு வீடு, ஒரு உலகம், அம்மா வந்தாள், பதினெட்டாவது அட்சக்கோடு, தந்திர பூமி…தமிழ் நாவலின் அடர்த்தியும் களமும் புனைவும் மற்ற மொழி முயற்சிகளை விட ஒரு படி கூடுதல் உயரம் தான்.
உலக அரங்கில் தமிழுக்கு லாபி இல்லாததால் தான் நாம் இங்கே இருக்கிறோம்.. கன்னடம் புக்கருக்குப் போகிறது..
